Brad got sick three times last night, but was otherwise okay. He didn't want to go to sleep because closing his eyes made him nauseous. The nurse brought in a TV and VCR so he could watch a movie and drift off to sleep.
The nurse Elaine is back this morning. She scared us a little because she heard something abnormal in his breathing. He complains mostly now about the ribcage hurting. It should hurt as the bar in his chest is attached to his ribcage and that's what's supporting his chest while the bones grow back together in his new chest. The respiratory therapist listened and thought everything was fine, but she ordered an x-ray anyway.
Dr. Koury came by and listened. He told the nurse if that bothered her, don't listen to that spot. She told us then that she believes she was hearing the bar rub against the ribs and that it's to be expected.
Dr. Koury was optimistic. He said he warned everyone about the pain, so we just deal with it and balance pain again nausea. The first two or three days are bad, then everyone gets better. He just did a 10 year old girl who thought she would die, but after three days, she was fine.
Jamie and his family came by for a nice visit last night. Also, his cousin Laura visited for quite a while yesterday, which was very nice since we rarely see her. We're trying to keep the number of visitors down, but Brad likes it when someone does visit.
I think he's talked the nurse into the Nintendo 64 system they have up here now. I'm heading back to the room...
